Liturgical Ministries

end of massEucharistic Adoration - Is the adoration of Jesus Christ truly and wholly present in the Holy Eucharist.   At Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Holy Eucharist is adored, independently of Mass, daily from 8:00AM until 9:00PM in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.  On Thursdays, members of our community gather in adoration of the exposed Blessed Sacrament from 9:00 am to 7:45 pm.  The community is invited to come and pray in silence in front of the Blessed Sacrament throughout the day any day of the week, either in the presence in the tabernacle, or on Thursdays during exposition.

Altar Servers-These are young men and women, in fourth grade or higher, who assist the community and specifically the priest during the liturgy at any weekend Mass.   Commitment levels are determined by the individual’s own schedule and his or her availability.  Trainings are offered twice a year.

Minister of Holy CommunionExtraordinary Ministries of Holy Communion- These members of our community assist the greater community and presider with the distribution of the Precious Body and Blood of Christ at Communion.  These are confirmed men and women, who are trained and prepared (they attend a yearly day of reflection or workshop) for this important task. They are scheduled at Masses of their preference.

Lectors- These are women or men, in middle school or older, who proclaim the Word of God to the community.  They also attend a yearly workshop or day of reflection and are scheduled at Masses of their preference.

Ministries of Hospitality - They are the first people that you meet when you enter our church.  They are greeters who smile at you as you walk in and welcome newcomers. They also help collect our offerings or gifts during the liturgy and organize those chosen to bring them forward.  Men and women of any age can serve as Ministries of Hospitality.  We encourage entire families to support this ministry and small children to participate under the supervision of their parents.

Ministry to the Sick and Homebound- This ministry wishes to show love and care for parish members who cannot worship due to hospitalization, serious illness, pregnancy, injury, disability or the aging process. Homebound parishioners are visited by an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion on a regular basis for prayer, sacrament and companionship. Visits are made to home, hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living facilities. If you have a relative or friend who would like to be visited or would like to join this ministry, please contact the parish office at 404-636-1418.

We invite you to make a difference and participate in any of these ministries.
