Crossroads Community Ministry (Soup Kitchen) - In partnership with St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in downtown Atlanta, the mission of this ministry is to “feed the hungry and give drink to the thirsty." The IHM community volunteers meet and carpool from the upper parking lot near Briarcliff Road at 8:00 am each Friday, and return at approximately 11:30 am. The main task of this ministry is to prepare and serve lunch to the homeless in the downtown community.
Nicholas House- Nicholas House was the first facility in metro Atlanta to provide shelter to homeless families. Begun in 1982 as a night shelter by members of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, NH requested help from area churches and IHM responded to that call. IHM's commitment has grown to providing and serving dinner 6 weeks a year to the 45 residents and a parish donation to help with operating expenses. Now an independent transitional housing agency, Nicholas House Inc. encourages its residents to become self-sufficient with the result that about two-thirds of the families served have moved on to stable housing. Pro-Life Ministry- The mission of the IHM Pro-Life Ministry is to advocate, promote, and protect the dignity, sanctity, and unique personhood of each human life from the moment of conception until natural death. We will uphold a consistent ethic of life and be part of Christ's healing mission in the world by proclaiming life as God's gift and God as sole Lord over human life -cf Catechism of the Catholic Church, sections 2322, 2258, 2260, 2320, 1509; The Catholic Church is a Pro-Life Church, USCCB. This group meets every Saturday at 9:30 am. Saint Vincent the Paul - With a spirit of justice and charity and through the personal involvement of members, volunteers provide assistance to those who are suffering and help bring social justice and the friendship of true charity to all those in need. Some members visit the poor and vulnerable and typically provide them with financial assistance for rent or utilities and possibly food. Others assist in carrying out activities such as helping in the SVDP store or mission. Parishioners participate with financial contributions once a month and with seasonal donations of food and goods. Ministry to the Sick and Homebound - This ministry wishes to show love and care for parish members who cannot worship due to hospitalization, serious illness, pregnancy, injury, disability or the aging process. Homebound parishioners are visited by an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion on a regular basis for prayer, sacrament and companionship. Visits are made to home, hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living facilities. If you have a relative or friend who would like to be visited or would like to join this ministry, contact the parish office at 404-636-1418.
Stepping Stones – The goal of this ministry is that those who have experienced the death of a loved one will feel the love, support and prayers of the IHM community. Stepping Stones prays for the deceased and their families; contact bereaved through phone calls, visits or cards; offer a listening ear and caring presence; have resources available for individual use and/or location of support services. We meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 pm in the Maloney Center Conference Room.
